Crowning Achievement

This post will be a visual odyssey through my last day of chemo. I’m too verklempt to write much about it today.

Doctor Wade and nurse Martine came in to respond to my litany of questions. Must be hard to take me seriously in that rainbow sleeve, purple wig and crown. Whatevs.
This glorious creature is my chemo sister Jess. She hand-made the ‘LAST CHEMO’ sign behind us and had the nurses sign the back and hang it before I came in. She also brought me a stuffed and thoughtful gift bag which included this new mermaid wig that she knew I wanted. Love her to bits.
Jess had chemo yesterday, but was there getting hydration today. We are both sporting puffy chemo faces, but man, is she a gorgeous creature.

My sister brought me the most delicious and dope cake as a surprise. We were thrilled to share it with the entire Kellogg Team that has helped me along the way.

The A-TEAM. Oh do I love these people something fierce.

NOT Cake by the Ocean. More like, Cake by the Poison. But soooo good. Last thing I tasted for about 2 weeks. Heavenly.
Bag of Taxotere, poison #1. Me giving it a goodbye hug and kiss.
Shit is getting real. My mom swoops in to soothe.
IV machine getting wiggy with it.
During poison drip #2, Cytoxen, I was told to chew ice chips as it may lessen mouth sores. Doing it.
Hello port, you are helpful. Now BYE!! It will be removed at my next breast surgery.
You can’t hear it, but the machine is beeping that my last drip is over. I am done with chemo!
You know every human emotion? I am feeling them all right here.
This is my Oncologist Dr. Wade. She came in to congratulate me, but probably more to get a piece of cake. *Note tissue box that got a LOT of use.
More weeping as I am given my Certificate signed by all the nurses.

After a fun lunch high on the the pre-meds with my A-Team of my mom, sister and huz, I came home and have been sleeping ever since. My body feels kicked (duh) and the all too familiar ‘warm milk taste’ has returned to everything, including water, that goes into my mouth.

Right now, I am going to thank my lucky stars and call it a wrap on today. I thank you ALL with pure sincerity for following me on this Space Odyssey so far. Your support means the world to me.

    You Go Girl!
You are a SuperStar, Sparkle Pony, Mermaid Goddess!

I remember we partied after my last toxic infusion, too, and remember saying – “Why are we celebrating now when I’ve got 3 weeks of hell ahead of me?” – so we had a big Girl’s Weekend Party in LA when it was all over. I hope you have some big fun to look forward to!

Hang in there, last one, you got this!
    Rock on, girlfriend –

Sending much love and big, big hugs…
