Uninspired

I haven’t been blogging. I haven’t felt I have had anything of real interest to say. Here are a couple of blog concepts I’ve been tumbling around:

  • More general complaining
  • Cake!
  • My kids have been sick all week. SOS-
  • Feelin’ chubby (see; cake!)
  • Guilt
  • New problem with my arm

As you can see, none of these are terribly riveting, except ‘Cake!’. I’m still considering writing at length about my feelings towards cake at kids birthday parties (here’s a hint: I feel GREAT about it).

Yes, I am experiencing a slight complication with my arm that I am getting checked out later this week. Nothing to panic about, just some swelling. I’ll keep you posted.

Yes, I feel guilty 90% of the time.

Yes, I could find 214 things to complain about right now.

None of it seems worth talking about. Maybe I have maxed out my capacity to be compelling and witty. I am definitely feeling bored with myself. I hope it’s just a lull.

I’m looking for inspiration, but right now, I only feel inspired by baked goods and the amount of love found on Bachelor In Paradise (you should know that I could be in my final hours of hospice care and still clear the room for any Bachelor franchise show).

My cancer is boring me. It’s a snooze-fest. I will try to think of things to ruminate on, but in the meantime, I’m going to open things up to the floor.

Anyone have any questions for Team Grancer? Anything you are desperate to know about me, cancer, chemo, cake, my dope dog?

Ask away!!!

Yup, thats how I feel too buddy

I will never willingly look at PC and you should name your dog either Francis or Frances.

Holy shit! Let the bells ring out, and the banners fly! I was sure I was the only person in the world who loathes the sight and sound of that simpy little man. 😝

Sounds like a good time for some funny movies. Or super sappy cathartic ones.
Maybe it is good to be bored of all the cancer nonsense – it means that terror isn’t the front runner just now.
Your arm may be a barometer that you need more support – food train with cake? Acupuncture? Energy healer? I want to know what things feel nurturing to you? What builds you up? What are ten things that someone else could do that would make your life better? Laundry? Mop your floors? Wash your windows? There are many people watching you go through this, and wishing they could help. I want to hear your wish list. Feel free to pair them with the complaints they will ease…
Xo Iris, Amazon, artist, baker and mama, also pretty much a total stranger from across the blogosphere wishing you well.

    You have one new message:

“Hey, you beautiful bald woman! We were just thinking about you, ’cause you are our favorite patient and wanted to give you a call to let you know that we think you are a QUEEN. We know chemo sucks balls, but you are a superhero and we know you will handle it like a champ as you always do. So in the meantime, take some Ativan, ignore your kids and please, no more Grape God. PS- we all think you are so pretty, kind and funny.”

Just in case they haven’t called you with this message this week. 🙂 Holy smokes! Cancer sucks, chemo sucks, cancer is boring and having it can be SO uninspiring!

You get a “pass” for almost everything during treatment. Chemo brain can pretty much leave you wondering if you ever had much of one in the first place. And BTW… telling it like it is, from your perspective, is pretty darn inspiring for the rest of us even if it feels to you like you’re not!

This picture reminds me of one of my favorite Katy Perry songs and seems pretty inspiring right now, too:

    Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make ’em go, “Aah, aah, aah”
You’re gonna leave ’em all in awe, awe, awe

    Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It’s always been inside of you, you, you
And now it’s time to let it through-ough-ough

    ‘Cause, baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, “Aah, aah, aah”
As you shoot across the sky-y-y

You GO GIRL! Keep kicking cancer’s ass!
    Sending you some big love…

    Hi Grace,

A friend of a friend recommended I read your blog after my recent diagnosis of stage 3 ER/PR positive breast cancer with regional presentation in lymph on same side (also post breastfeeding). Five days after positive diagnosis and one week before my 36th birthday, we found out we are unexpectedly, expecting. Your honest, witty account of your own challenging experience has been an amazing source of information and comfort to me. If we would be able to connect offline (email?) I would love to share how we may have a bit more in common, personally and professionally. I was connected with a ‘survivor’ however, it may be too early for me to pour my heart and conflicted mind out to a total random. I have this tiny little connection with you as mentioned. If you’re unable to add to what I’m sure is an already long list of people sharing their appreciation for your generous literary prose, my question would be: Do you have any books you have enjoyed reading during your ‘down’ time? I’m not a reader generally, but I’m desperate for an approved, non-waste-of time distraction.
Sending my thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Hello! Thanks for reading and reaching out to me! Please email me off-line. Clearly I love talking about this shit-bag cancer situation.

Any book I read is usually fluff. I can’t read anything serious or heavy, too much of that in my reality.

You can’t leave us hanging like that! You said you love cake (me too) but didn’t give us any inkling of a hint of your favorite. Or maybe you’re like me and like them all including a huge Safeway sheet cake with gobs of glowing frosting? But the mother of all cakes…Susie Cakes Chocolae…so simple but so sickingly delicious…do you have Susie Cales in Chicago? If not I may need to figure out how to next day air you a slice of heaven! Xo

Caaaaaakkkkkeeee!!!! Any and all cake. I love a cheap grocery store sheet cake. A delicious frosted sugar cookie, some kind of multi-layered brownie? Yes please.
Never heard of a Susie cake. Tell me more…
